BEST TIME TO VISIT KASHMIR TULIP GARDEN IN SRINAGAR
With more than one million tulip bulbs planted, Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the largest Tulip garden in Asia, situated in Srinagar, Kashmir and the second largest in the world after Keukenhof Gardens, situated in South Holland, Netherlands.
Government of Jammu & Kashmir as a strategy to boost tourism in Kashmir opened Tulip Garden in year 2007. It is spread across 30 hectares of land with Zabarwan Mountain in the backdrop overlooking the Dal Lake. This beautiful garden has 48 to 60 different varieties of tulips. There are other varieties of flowers as well like Ranunculus, Roses, Daffodils etc. This seven-terraced tulip garden looks like a colourful never-ending flower carpet with mountains in the backdrop. It is so picturesque and is a rare sight.
The Tulip Garden is definitely a must visit place in Kashmir, but it is not open all around the year. It only lasts for 15 days starting from the 1stto the 15th of April, which is the seasonal time for tulips to bloom (always recheck opening time and closing time for each year of Tulip Garden from various media sources and website like www.jktourism.jk.gov.in)
