Mussoorie is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, it offers breathtaking views, pleasant weather, and a mix of natural beauty and colonial charm. Here I am sharing Mussoorie Itinerary for 3 days from Dehradun in detail.
On first day covering places on the north & western side of Mussoorie like George Everest Peak, Dalai Hills, Company’s Garden and lastly The Mall Road. Then for second day covering places on east and southern side of Mussoorie like Bhatta Falls, Landour, Camel Back Road and Lal Tibba and lastly 3rd day for a day trip to Dhanaulti and Surkanda Devi Temple.
1st DAY: GEORGE EVEREST PEAK, DALAI HILLS, COMPANY’S GARDEN, MALL ROAD AND GUN HILLS
George Everest Peak
When in Mussoorie start your trip with an early morning trek to the amazing George Everest Peak. Being the highest point of Mussoorie you shall see the panaromic view of the city and the beautiful hills around it, which is not available from any other part of the city.
Company’s Garden
It is a well maintain garden with variety of flowers. It also has a children area with variety of slides and fun rides. There is a beautiful manmade waterfall inside this garden. You can also go for boating in the pond inside the garden. This place can be given a quick half n hour visit as it is on the way from George Everest Peak to next destination Dalai Hills. If time is limited then this place can be skipped.
Dalai Hills
If you haven’t made it to George Everest peak (due to trek) then Dalai Hills is your savior. Trek to Dalai Hills is easy and takes 10-15 mins only. The view of the hills will sweep you off your feet. The Big Buddha statue situated here adds to the charm.
Mall Road and Gun Hill
Head to Mall Road for amazing street food and local shopping. One can loose track of time here and can spend hours amongst the hustle and bustle of the street. Starting point of the ropeway to Gun Hill is also in the Mall Road. If there isn’t any huge queue for ropeway then Gun Hills can be given a quick short visit.
Now end the day with dinner at one of the amazing restaurants in Mall Road. You can always take help of Google to search for latest and high rated restaurants.
- 05:30 AM: To George Everest Peak
- 09:00 AM: Back to hotel for breakfast
- 11:00 AM: Company’s Garden
- 12:00 PM: Dalai Hills
- 02:00 PM: Mall Road – Lunch & Shopping
- 04:00 PM: Gun Hill
- 08:00 PM: Dinner
2nd DAY: CAMEL BACK ROAD VIEW POINT. BHATTA FALLS, LANDOUR AND LAL TIBBA VIEW POINT
Camel Back Road View Point
Camel back road is a beautiful scenic road full of stunning views all along. It is called camel back because of the camel shaped rock formation along the road. Early morning a quick visit to this place can be given as a wonderful start of the day.
Bhatta Falls
Bhatta Falls is a beautiful attraction in Mussoorie. There is a ropeway to take down towards the waterfall. All throughout there is beautiful landscapes. The waterfall is easily reachable and stunning. Compared to crowded and overhyped Kempty Fall – Bhatta Fall definitely is a far better choice.
Landour
On the way back from Bhatta Fall to next destination Lal Tibba view point in between you will come across beautiful area ‘Landour’ full of colonial buildings and breath-taking views. This place also offers some of the best Café’s and restaurants. Give a quick food break here before heading to next destination Lal Tibba.
Lal Tibba
Drive from Landour to Lal Tibba viewpoint will definitely be one of the most mesmerising drive. Being the highest point in Landour the viewpoint offers azaming and captivating views of the surroundings. Famous mountain peaks of Kedarnath and Nanda Devi are clearly visible from Lal Tibba viewpoint. The view from here looks magical around sunrise/ sunset.
- 07:00 AM: Camel Back Road viewpoint
- 09:00 AM: Back to Hotel for breakfast
- 11:00 AM: Bhatta Fall
- 02:00 PM: Landour – Lunch
- 04:30 PM: Lal Tibba for Sunset
- 08:00 PM: Dinner at Landour or Mall Road
3rd DAY: DAY TRIP TO DHANAULTI AND SURKANDA DEVI TEMPLE
Dhanaulti
Dhanaulti is a beautiful nearby hill station full of cedar and deodar trees. It can easily be covered as day trip from Mussoorie. The Eco Park in Dhanaulti offers stunning view of the surrounding area.
Surkanda Devi Temple
Belonging to Goddess Durga, the hindu deity this beautiful temple is one of the 51 shaktipeeths.It is said that Sati’s (Hindu Goddess) head was fallen at the place hence the name ‘Surkanda’. Located on a hilltop, it offers stunning view of the valley. It is 1-hour trek to reach the temple but now ropeway is also available to reach the temple quickly without this trek.
- 10:00 AM: Towards Dhanaulti
- 11:00 AM: Dhanaulti Eco Park
- 01:00 PM: Lunch near Surkanda Devi Temple
- 03:00 PM: Surkanda Devi Temple
- 06:00 PM: Back to Mussoorie
